Patrick Bentley spent 20 years in the military before he ever roasted a bag of coffee. Today, he and his wife Diane run Bentley's Napa Valley, a small veteran-owned coffee roastery based in Napa County — and the way they got here wasn't exactly the plan.
Before Bentley's was a coffee company, it was a hydroponic lettuce and egg farm. The 2017 Atlas Fire changed that overnight, destroying the crops and the flock the Bentleys had built their livelihood around. Rebuilding from scratch, they turned to something they'd always loved — good coffee — and Bentley's Napa Valley was born.

Every bag is roasted here in small batches, so it ships close to the day it's roasted rather than sitting in a warehouse for weeks. We roast many single-origin coffees alongside our signature blends — Napa Valley Coffee and our Cafe Blends — with Patrick tuning each roast profile by hand.
Veteran-owned, and giving back
Bentley's donates 10% of online sales to programs that support veterans — a direct line from Patrick's own 20 years of service to every bag sold.
